Blessings are like leaves they are all around us but hardly ever noticed. Sure we notice the leaves now when they change colors and are beautiful. But what about the rest of the time? Not so much. Same with blessings, we notice the big ones and thank God for them but what about every day? What about the small things? This is what we will practice in this lapbook. Yep, practice. Thankfulness to God takes practice and must be practiced just like playing and instrument and what better time to count your blessings than at Thanksgiving time. A time of reflection and thanks to God for all he has done for us.

You will need: two file folders, glue, tape and scissors and pens or pencils to put this lapbook together.

This will be a fun time of practicing counting our blessings as we put together this lapbook. This lapbook is meant to take 13 days (including putting together the file folder) but could take longer depending on the ability of your child. You will get the following:

Complete directions and lapbook layout, lapbook cover and extra clipart to decorate your lapbook if desired, information on what "count your blessings" mean, what the words blessed and blessing mean from Noah Webster's 1828 dictionary and the hymn "Count Your Blessings" from Johnson Oatman Jr. which you will write in a booklet and 10 days worth of scripture for each of the ten pockets you will put together.

The first booklet you will write the definition of blessing in, the second booklet you will read and write the hymn "Count Your Blessings" by Johnson Oatman Jr. and the next ten are pockets along with two cards you will put together for each day. You will cut out a card and write your blessings for that day on the first card and on the second card you will write scripture for that day that is provided.

Practice being thankful this year for Thanksgiving by making a basketful of thanks.

Your child will put together an adorable basket in your choice of color or black and white so your child can decorate it themselves.
